First Impression: Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50/PA++++

Today I have another first-impression
review for a cult favorite product: the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence! I’ve
heard and read so many good reviews about this sunscreen, but never had the
courage to try it out myself because, you know, my super-duper sensitive skin.
My skin has got better and better nowadays, it doesn’t easily get irritated of
sunscreen agent anymore. Yup, you read it right. My skin used to be very
intolerant of sunscreen agent, especially the chemical ones.
Perhaps you don’t notice this, but do you
realize that I have never ever reviewed sunscreen product in my blog before? I
didn’t really wear sunscreen since that skin tragedy that I told here, and to
be honest I’ve not found the perfect sunscreen that I really like until now. I
have one or two that I like, yeah, but I’ve not found my holy grail sunscreen
yet! That’s why I’m very excited to try out this product, as there are soooo
many positive reviews about this product, even from friends & relatives
that have sensitive skin like me 😉

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence has SPF 50/PA++++. SPF indicates the level of
protection this sunscreen offers from UVB rays, while PA indicates the level of protection of UVA rays. Both rays are equally
harmful for our skin – UVB causes sunburn and skin darkening, while UVA causes even more serious
problems like permanent aging, and even skin cancer! Currently, the highest grade of UVA protection that
is available is PA++++, thank God this product
has it!
This sunscreen comes in this eye-catchy metallic light blue tube
that’s made from great quality plastic material. Since it’s a product of Japan,
the product description available on the tube is written in Japanese. But,
worry not if you get it from authorized Indonesian seller/distributor – like Sociolla or Biore’s
Official Store or the
nearest Guardian store – you’ll get fully-translated product information &
ingredients list like this:
Now let’s talk about the formula and product texture. This Biore UV Aqua
Rich sunscreen has a very lightweight formula, just like essence! When
you spread it on skin, the essence breaks down to a watery texture that’s
super easy & quick to get absorbed into the skin. This sunscreen also leaves
no white cast on top of skin, has no sticky
feeling, and no weird sunscreen scent! Instead, this
Aqua Rich Watery Essence has a subtle, fresh citrusy scent that
dissipates quickly as soon as it gets absorbed.
I love how this sunscreen has satin finish on skin, not
too oily or too matte, and it serves well as a makeup primer too. It
feels comfortable and not drying on my dry-combination skin,
and I can understand now why so many people love this sunscreen – it’s actually
a universal product, can be used by all skin type including the sensitive one
like mine! 😉

By the way, I performed this mini-test myself to prove
that the formula of Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence is really lightweight and
hydrating without making your face greasy. I put Biore and one other Japanese
sunscreen (that I used previously and to be honest, kinda like) on top of
blotting sheets, and here’s the result:

The sheet with Biore has little to none oil absorbed, but
the one with another Japanese sunscreen…well, the pictures say it all! What I
thought was water slash hydrating properties in that sunscreen, was
actually…oil. Okay. I was kinda shocked when I saw this myself but that’s the
proof!!!
I’ve worn this product 3 times by now, and so far I’ve
not seen any negative reaction from my skin. This Biore Aqua Rich
sunscreen has waterproof formula, but it can be easily removed
with micellar water or facial wash. For me, I'd prefer to
(still) double cleanse, but it says that it can be removed with facial wash
only. It doesn’t cause me breakouts or comedones as well, which is great! 😉

Overall, this product is worth a try if you’re
looking for a transparent, no whitecast sunscreen that can be used on its own
and as makeup primer. This Biore UV Aqua Rich Sunscreen has
quite high content of alcohol, but it doesn’t sting my skin at all even though
my skin is annoyingly sensitive. If you’re allergic to alcohol, you may want to
note this. This sunscreen has become a staple product in my daily skin care
routine nowadays! Think I’ll repurchase this sunscreen soon, as the one that I
got here is the 15 gr sample size. This sunscreen comes in one size only, 50
gr, and it retails for Rp 115.800,-.
