Just finished cleaning up dust from this blog, it’s been a while since my last post huh? Talking about cleaning, today I have a review for several products from a very famous castile liquid soap brand: Dr. Bronner! The first time I knew about the availability of this amazing & well-known product in Indonesia was when I was strolling inside Ranch Market. They carry all variants of Dr. Bronner’s famous Pure Castile Liquid Soap, along with the bar version too! Since I’m not a big fan of bar soap, today I’m gonna present you 3 Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Liquid Soap which I’ve used for more than 2 weeks now 😉

These soaps are famous for their 18-in-1 Uses. It can literally be used from head-to-toe: as facial wash, toothpaste, mouthwash, hand soap, bath soak, to all-purpose cleaner and dish soap! Isn’t that amazing?? If you wonder how can a product be so versatile yet so gentle to be used on sensitive skin like babies’ or even used as mouthwash, here I give you the answer: they use all-organic ingredients which are certified vegan, non-DMO, and fairly traded as well!

If you still have no idea about what castile soap is, it’s basically a vegetable-oil-based soap which was originated from a region in Spain with the same name – Castile. Dr. Bronner’s uses 4 different vegetable oils in the making of their Pure Castille Liquid Soaps, which are:

• ·         Coconut Oil, acts as lathering agent from its high lauric acid content,
• ·         Olive Oil, high in oleic acid and is great to moisturize the skin,
• ·         Jojoba Oil, which closely resembles the natural oil that human skin produces so it will act great as natural skin conditioner, and
• ·         Palm Kernel Oil, with same fatty acid profile as coconut oil it can help with the foamability of this soap hence omitting the needs of synthetic foaming agents!

Since there’s coconut oil and palm kernel oil that act as the natural foaming agent, of course this soap is free from SLS a.k.a detergent but still it foams up really well! The Pure Castile Liquid Soap is also free from preservatives like Paraben and irritating agent like alcohol, so it’s safe to use if you have skin that’s allergic or sensitive to such ingredients 😊

 

I have 3 different variants of Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Liquid Soap here, let’s take a closer look at each:

 Dr. Bronner's Baby Unscented Pure-Castile Soap

I’m gonna start with my fave, the Baby Unscented Pure-Castile Soap. This one has no added fragrance, and the olive oil content is doubled as well – hence it’s perfect to be used for babies who have delicate and sensitive skin! I like this one the most because it leaves my skin supple, soft, and smooth after shower! This one can also be used on the face without leaving my dry combination skin tight. Since this one is unscented, I can easily use scented body lotion after shower without having to worry if the aromas of soap and the lotion might clash 😉

Texture of Dr. Bronner's Pure Castile Liquid Soap. Runny, lightweight, oil-like but doesn't feel oily at all and can lather up very well. The unscented one is clearer, less-yellowish in color while the ones infused with essential oils are yellower in color.

Dr. Bronner's Lavender Pure-Castile Soap

Next! Moving on to the 2^nd favorite of mine, the Lavender Pure Castile Soap. Infused with real lavender essential oil, this soap quickly scores the second place because I do really love anything lavender – especially, lavender essential oil! Lavender is known for its amazing health properties and great calming effect to both the mind and body. The real lavender essential oil would have rather subtle aroma but very calming, and from just the scent, I know the essential oil used in this soap is a legit one! 😉 It’s because in this soap, Dr. Bronner also put real lavender in the formulation – hence the maximized calming, soothing effect to the bug bites/allergic rash on the skin. Love, love, love this soap and I’d really recommend it to you – especially lavender lover like me!

Dr. Bronner's Rose Pure-Castile Soap

Last of the three, I tried the Rose Pure Castile Soap as well. This one, unfortunately, is not very great for me because I tried using it on my face and it breaks my skin out ☹ However, when used on the body, it works just as great as the other two. The rose scent is subtle, pretty sweet, and still smells natural. This soap is infused with real rose oil too, which contains many antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that are known for moisturizing, anti-aging and anti-inflammatory effect.

Overall, I love Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Liquid Soap! It’s free from dangerous chemical ingredients, preservatives like paraben, and irritant like alcohol. All the ingredients used are also certified with USDA Organics, and these soaps are cruelty-free made as well! 😉 The formulation is great, it lathers up so well and just a little bit amount is enough for head-to-toe! This soap leaves my skin hydrated, plumped, and more supple after 2 weeks of usage. I definitely will recommend this product – especially the unscented one – to all of you who’s looking for soap that’s safe for babies and those with problematic or, ahem, sensitive skin. If you want ones with aroma, go for the ones infused with essential oils like the Lavender or Rose. Trust me, you’ll love them – and your skin would, too!

How’s your quarantine life? Hope you’re all doing great! Here in Indonesia, earlier this week our government decided to ease up some of the restrictions so a lot of public places have already reopened. Some of the new rules have been applied in this ‘new normal’ era. It’s now mandatory to go through disinfectant chamber and one or two screening steps before entering malls/grocery stores. We are also encouraged to wash our hand often or use hand sanitizer like literally, as often as we could, to protect ourselves from catching the virus.

To be honest, the excessive usage of hand sanitizer & other efforts that I constantly do to keep the virus away have made my skin suffered. My skin is visibly drier, and in some area, it’s gotten crackly as well! This is not a good thing because I have atopic that can flare up whenever I, or my skin, gets stressed out. And yes, with all that’s going on in the world right now, I’d be lying if I say that I’m 100% fine. Of course, like most of the people in this world, my stress level is so high. Thankfully, few days ago I received a big box from Bioderma & Clozette Indonesia. Here it is, the Blue Care Package by Bioderma:

Why blue? As a color, blue is often used to symbolize calmness, peace, and confidence. Bioderma has two product lines with blue color as their color code: Hydrabio and Atoderm. The products inside this Blue Care Package were carefully hand-picked by Bioderma team with the hope that these items would be beneficial for us during this time. There are 3 items from Hydrabio range (Micellar Water, Essence Lotion, and Serum) and 3 items from Atoderm range (Lip Balm, Shower Gel, Body Cream). Without further ado, let’s take a closer look at each of them!

HYDRABIO by Bioderma

Bioderma Hydrabio H2O Micellar Water

I’m a big fan of Bioderma’s micellar water. I’ve reviewed one from the famous Sensibio line here. This micellar water from Hydrabio range has the same potency with the Sensibio one in terms of removing stubborn & waterproof base makeup, but I do feel that this product feels gentler & nicer on the skin. It leaves my skin clean, hydrated, and happy! I’d do double cleansing all the time, so I prefer my cleansers to be potent and effective, but also gentle & not drying to the skin. After trying out this product, I think my favorite Bioderma Micellar Water is now this one from Hydrabio range! All products from this range has been formulated with the Aquagenium patent, a biological complex that helps reactivating the skin’s natural moisturizing process and water retention ability. That’s why all the products in this range is perfect for those who has problems with dry, sensitive, and dehydrated skin! 😉

Bioderma Hydrabio Essence Lotion

This is a hydrating toner with super lightweight, clear, water-like consistency. It claims to rebalance and soften the skin, prepping it to be ready for whatever product in your daily skincare regime that’s gonna be applied next. It feels like such a treat to myself whenever I apply this toner, because it has nice and calming scent which I really like. This toner has perfect – yes, perfect – hydrating effect! It leaves my skin plumped without the annoying sticky or greasy feeling that some hydrating toner has.

 

Bioderma Hydrabio Serum

Another favorite product of mine. Honestly when it comes to hydrating serum, I’d not found one that I really like until I tried this one. Everything else before this Hydrabio Serum was just so-so or okay for me. With the gel-like consistency, this serum looks super lightweight and airy, but after I put it on my skin and start rubbing in, OH MY LORD THIS SERUM IS AMAZING. It has intense hydration formula, plus it gets absorbed quickly and leaves – again, same with the essence lotion – no sticky/greasy feeling behind. After using this serum my skin’s visibly glowing, looking far healthier & livelier than before. The Hydrabio Serum also serves nicely as a makeup base, making whatever complexion product I put on top glides on smoothly & blends seamlessly. With ONLY two days of regular use, this serum has improved my skin a LOT – rebalances the sebum production, eliminate dry & rough patches on my nose, and calms down the redness on my skin and some inflamed acne. I really wonder, other than the mighty Aquagenium patent, does Bioderma involve magic in the development of this product? In all other products from this Hydrabio range??

 

ATODERM by Bioderma

Bioderma Atoderm Lip Balm

Fancy box packaging, sleek white tube, 4 g of product. This lip balm is not like other ordinary lip balm. It’s ultra-moisturizing – just like the name suggests – and is able to repair the moisture barrier on your lips and make them soft again. The Atoderm Lip Balm also has slight fruity scent, I think it’s berry. No wonder there are tons of good review about this product – it glides on smoothly on lips and has nice finish that’s not too greasy and not sticky, almost matte, making it perfect as a primer for lippie. A perfect product for literally everyone, be it men or women, adults or kids. For those who have sensitive lips, no worries! This lip balm is using hypoallergenic ingredients & synthetic wax, perfect for those who are vegan or allergic to beeswax! 😉

Bioderma Atoderm Shower Gel

Now we’re talking about body care products from the Atoderm range and I’m gonna start with this shower gel. With clear baby blue gel and subtle fresh scent, this shower gel contains Skin Protect complex with dual biological action that helps to protect the skin with ceramides and boost the skin’s moisture level by stimulating the production of hyaluronic acid. This product is also hypoallergenic, making it suitable for adults, children, and babies. I like how moisturizing this shower gel is. It lathers up pretty well but not so foamy, plus it leaves nice moisturized feeling on the skin after shower. A perfect product to pair with the Atoderm Crème. This duo is doing great to calm my atopic flares and repair the skin’s moisture barrier.

 

Bioderma Atoderm Crème

Another favorite product of mine. Then again, which product in this Blue Care Package that I don’t like?! This package is truly a bliss for those suffering from extreme skin dryness, highly sensitive skin, and atopic like me! I’ve always had a soft spot for multi-function crème like this, as it can be used both on face and body thanks to the hypoallergenic and lipid-replenishing formula. This crème is very potent and rich, but somehow it has pretty runny consistency. I love how this product is able to quickly soothe my skin and provide comfort on itchy atopic flares. With 2-3 times of diligent application a day, the Atoderm Crème can truly help to heal an atopic flare! Totally impressive. This product is now added to my staple + must-repurchase stash without a single doubt.

I think Bioderma did a great job creating this Blue Care Package. With these products, cleansing, hydrating, and moisturizing skin is an easy job! I mean, with only 6 products that cover all of your skin’s needs from head-to-toe, you can save up the time that’s usually spent to slap and layer tons of product into your skin and use those extra minutes to do other productive activities 😉 I highly recommend you to grab these products depend on your skin’s needs, and if you could grab all six of them – that’s even better!

Gimana, karantina-nya? Masih tetap semangat atau sudah mulai bosen rebahan? Oya, kabar makeup kalian gimana nih, masih sering disentuh dan dipakai pas meeting online atau udah goes bare face aja? 😊

Satu-satunya kesempatan buat (ahem) pamer hasil dan effort untuk makeup aku hari itu ialah saat video call, entah sama temen atau dengan rekan kerja. Kayaknya kalau bahas soal brand lokal satu ini, Looke sudah terkenal banget dengan packagingnya yang simple namun tetap mengusung kesan elegan. Warna hitam selalu setia mendominasi kemasan produk Looke, dengan beberapa sentuhan aksen warna silver. Holy Smooth & Blur Loose Powder ini dikemas dalam jar plastik berukuran sedang, dengan lid terbagi menjadi dua bagian. Bagian atas dari lid bedak ini dapat dibuka dan ada cermin didalamnya. Cocok dibawa pas travelling deh, karena bedak ini sudah dilengkapi kaca! Jarang banget kan ada packaging loose powder yang juga sudah disertai cermin.

Oya, buat kalian wahai orang yang sudah nyaris nggak pernah menyentuh puff bedak lagi sejak menemukan brush/sponge… berbahagialah! Karena puff di loose powder Looke ini sumpah, berguna banget!!!! Puff-nya super lembut layaknya kapas dan benar-benar bisa dipakai untuk pack on powder buat baking di wajah. Aku sudah cuci puff-nya dua kali sejauh ini, dan masih perfect juga kondisinya.

Oke, sekarang masuk ke formula. Looke Holy Smooth & Blur Loose Powder ini diklaim memiliki butiran yang sangat, sangat lembut sehingga dapat memberikan efek blurring dan menyamarkan pori. Hasil akhirnya matte, dan bedak tabur ini juga diformulasikan dengan Jojoba Oil untuk memberikan kelembaban ekstra pada kulit.

Hadir dalam dua warna, Freya memiliki warna light beige dan ditujukan untuk mereka yang memiliki warna kulit light to medium. Nah, untuk kalian yang memiliki kulit kecoklatan dan sawo matang, ada shade Terra, si medium beige yang lebih kuning dan sekitar 2 tingkat lebih gelap bila dibandingkan dengan Freya.

Klaim yang menyatakan bahwa butiran bedak tabur ini memiliki partikel yang sangat halus, aku amini. Benar-benar halus dan lembut banget bedak satu ini, jadi sangat mudah diaplikasikan dengan rata di wajah! Mau pemakaian tebal untuk baking atau tipis-tipis saja, sama-sama okenya. Tidak gumpal atau “nyangkut” di area-area yang kering di wajah, seperti dibagian cuping hidung. Hasil akhir dari bedak ini betul-betul matte, dan kemampuan menyamarkan porinya memang juara.

Nah, ini hasilnya setelah aplikasi bedak tabur Looke ini sewajah. Tadi aku baking di area bawah mata dan di tulang hidung, sisanya aku pulaskan tipis-tipis saja. Kalian bisa lihat nggak sih jadi betapa halusnya kulit aku? Sumpah ini nggak pakai filter ya fotonya, biar kalian bisa lihat sendiri kemampuan Holy Smooth & Blur Loose Powder ini menyamarkan pori!

Matte finish-nya memang benar-benar matte, namun masih natural dan tidak terlihat tebal atau medok di wajah. Oya, bedak tabur ini bisa menahan minyak di wajahku hingga 3 jam saat dipakai beraktivitas kala siang bolong yang panas. Plus masker. Pengap, namun setelah 3 jam baru mulai terlihat sebum muncul di area hidung dan pipi. Touch-up dan blot sedikit, beres! Base makeup di bawah bedak ini masih aman terkendali.

Dengan ukuran dan desain kemasan yang sedemikian rupa, bedak tabur ini aku kategorikan travel-friendly karena udah dilengkapi dengan cermin dan aplikator yang oke. Secara formula, semua klaim Looke terpenuhi: mulai dari butiran yang halus, hingga kemampuan nge-blur pori yang memang juara seperti sebagaimana ditampilkan di foto-fotoku sebelumnya. Overall, I really recommend you to get this Loose Powder – cuma saat ini memang masih tersedia dua pilihan warna aja sih.
