REVIEW: LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss
I don’t really know why
liquid lipsticks are so in-trend now. With the dead-matte finish, waterproof –
and even bulletproof – formula, and wide color selection from black to mint
blue, these lipsticks in tube seem to have too many cult followers all over the
world. Actually liquid lipsticks aren’t new to the market, but it was just
since late 2014 until now, the second quarter of 2015, that the virus seems to
have affected everyone. Like, bzzzzzz. You’re so into liquid lipsticks. And you
gotta try all brands offering their latest collection of these newest lipstick
formulas, and oh, don’t you forget to compare which-or-which is better.
I was not into the hype.
Was. Past tense. Until I discovered these babies at a very cheap price!
LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss comes in 16 beautiful shades, offering you a matte finish despite
the word ‘gloss’ on its name. Here is the description from their site:
Introducing our hottest new lip product - Matte Pigment Gloss. These 16 bold shades provide rich, intense color in a flat finish for all day wear. The long wearing formula goes on as a high pigmented liquid and dires to a flat matte finish. Leaving lips colored in gorgeous velvety perfection that last and lasts.
It has 5 g (0.17 oz) and retails for $5. I bought it for IDR 60,000 from Makeupuccino on Instagram.
Coming in a thick plastic
material, it however comes to my surprise that these lipsticks’ packaging can
easily get broken! I accidentally dropped mine and the very bottom of the tube
was damaged and shattered a little. Thank God the damage wasn’t on the body of
the tube, if it was, then one tube is done. It has black matte plastic cap, and
of course since it’s a tube packaging, it comes with doe-foot applicator. This
applicator is flat and has rounded end, not slanted like most wand applicators
out there. I don’t really have any preference on the applicator tho, because
both work fine for me.
I bought two colors –
both are my fave colors, you needn’t to ask why I only buy them – which is
Frisky and Tulle. Surprisingly, the formula of each shade appears to be
different! I will review each of them separately now.
Frisky is a beautiful true medium red. A bright-medium red to steal
everybody’s attention. The formula is super nice I’d say: rich color with great
color payoff, liquid texture and not runny at all, plus a great staying power
and flat matte finish. This shade actually lives up to its claims. What I love
from Frisky is, IT’S NOT FEELING STICKY
AT ALL. I should really put the caps lock on because most liquid lipsticks
feel super-duper-sticky, tacky, and simply has that ‘yuck it feels like glue’
sensation. Ew. And Frisky is none like what I mentioned above – it dries to a
velvety, flat matte finish. No shine at all, no dimension on your lips – just flat.
It lasts forever and fades just a little after meal. Albeit feeling a little
drying on lips, it doesn’t really make my lips crack or peel off.

While I enjoy Frisky a
little bit too much, Tulle is a
completely different story.
Tulle is a bright fuchsia
pink. Barbie pink, to be exact. It’s really similar to MAC Candy Yum Yum!
Despite of its beautiful color and being a great dupe, sadly it has thinner and
a bit runnier in formula if compared to Frisky. The color is rich on tube, but
due to its thin formula one swipe of application is definitely not enough. My
natural lips color still can be seen through with only one layer of it. Bad
thing is, Tulle is SUPER STICKY even
I just applied a very thin layer! UGH.
And I definitely would
not add another layer – let the color be not rich and vivid enough, I don’t
care – as it would be stickier, tackier, and ewwww when I add one more layer on
top.
Good thing is, Tulle lasts almost forever too and is still super hard to remove just like Frisky.

Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss pretty much lives up to its claim since it has rich
color and great lasting power. However the formula of each shade appears to be different;
yet I cannot judge which of which is better since I only have two of the total
16 shades. Or probably the one I got was just a dud?
These
lipsticks are very hard to remove, even with waterproof eye/lips makeup remover
and they stain your lips. Very long-lasting indeed. Retails for $5 each,
definitely this lipstick is a steal! Some shades of this matte glosses appear
to be a dupe for some higher end lipsticks which make them even more versatile.
I’m not into this kind of finish by the way, but these lipsticks are pretty
easy to wear, not heavy or uncomfortable at all – except the Tulle shade. If
you crave for a dead-matte lipstick or just curious about the liquid lipsticks
hype, LA Girl Matte Pigment Gloss could be a good start for your collection.
However if you fancy the velvety, smooth, non-drying matte lips like how
regular lipstick (in bullet form) would give then this range is not for you.

cantik banget frisky nyaaa (fix masuk keranjang). waktu itu masih ragu soalnya belum banyak yg review huhu. aku punya fleur, bazaar, sama rebel, untung tiga2nya nggak sticky walaupun di layer. mungkin untung-untungan ya dapet yg sticky atau nggaknya..
