Friday Kiss: Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Shine Lipstick in Mon Shu Red Pure

As promised here in my last post, today’s post is going to be the very first post under the categories Friday Kiss which I’m going to do a review of infamous or forgotten, hidden gem of thousand bullets of lipstick from various brand, plus a bonus FOTD. Yay!

It’s a lipstick from a famous Japan brand Shu Uemura, from the Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine ($30/3.4gram) range. The thing I love from Shu Uemura’s regular line product packaging is their sleek, simple, and professional looking white packaging. It looks clean but professional in any ways. This slim lipstick tube is made of reflective, almost mirror-like metal material behind the clear and sturdy plastic outer body.

The shade I got was from Karl Lagerfeld x Shu Uemura collaboration years ago, which once came in a limited edition bullet with cute mon shu doll printed on it but this one I got was already in standard packaging of Shu Uemura lipstick. It’s good that they make this shade permanent because…take a look at it yourself. How pretty it is?

This shade is called Mon Shu Red Pure, (it has name, surprisingly, maybe because it was once from special collaboration? Shu Uemura lipsticks—and just like typical Japan brand lipsticks—have no specific name for shades instead of number and alphabet representing the shade inside) is a bright, juicy, coral red color with strong pink tone in it—almost like a watermelon red-pink! It’s so juicy it almost is a tomato red, if it’s redder.

Ingredients
octyldodecanol diisostearyl malate pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2 polyethylene phenyl trimethicone hydrogenated coco-glycerides calcium aluminum borosilicate cera microcristallina / microcrystalline wax simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) butter synthetic fluorphlogopite ectoin 2-oleamido-1,3-octadecanediol c18-36 acid triglyceride acrylates copolymer methicone silica calcium sodium borosilicate bht benzyl benzoate limonene citronellol geraniol linalool parfum / fragrance [+/- may contain ci 77891 / titanium dioxide mica ci 77499, ci 77492, ci 77491 / iron oxides ci 45380 / red 22 lake ci 45410 / red 28 lake ci 19140 / yellow 5 lake ci 15850 / red 7 ci 15985 / yellow 6 lake ci 42090 / blue 1 lake ci 75470 / carmine ]

It has glossy finish but still has that great vibrancy and color payoff and NOT being sheer. I tend to stay away from glossy lipstick because they usually lack of vibrancy, but this one is not. Reminds me of YSL Rouge Volupte Sensual Radiant lipstick, but this one has fine glitter in it! And the glitter is not being chunky or ‘exfoliating’ lips, instead of the lipstick gliding smoothly on lips and feels very moisturizing, yet it has slip feeling to it and is potential to migrate or, let’s just say, it feathers a little bit. Wearing clear lip liner will help a lot, I promise. Good thing is, this lipstick leaves a beautiful stain on your lips after small meal and drink, even though it transfers to your utensils and mug.

LIPS SWATCH
do you see it settles into lines and feathers out to my skin? (bottom lip)

Being so smooth in texture, it may be more fragile than any of your usual lipstick in your collection. As you can see in the previous photo above, its bullet has totally PERFECT condition without scratch or whatsoever-that-is-potential-to-warn-that-this-lipstick-is-going-to-MELT DOWN AND BROKEN. Maybe a little oil drip at one side of the bullet, yes I spotted that, did you, but I thought it was going to mean…nothing. I was wrong. The pretty and perfect bullet was ruined into this messy, sticky, broken mold just upon ONE GENTLE SWIPE ON MY LIPS.

And I was not okay with that.

what the......?

During my 3 years of collecting lipstick, I only experienced broken lipstick twice. One was with my MAC Shy Girl (reviewed here), which went straight to the trash bin quickly as I realized it was melted down, and the second was with this. What’s wrong? The tester at the counter was yeah, quite sticky and not feeling too sturdy but at least it didn’t melt into this mess, hey. Maybe I just received a faulty item? Or it’s just my bad luck to receive a once-perfect-but-not-anymore-upon-one-swipe-haha product? I messaged Shu Uemura’sFacebook Page on Wednesday but still no reply until today. Let’s just hear from them about this case.
I admit how much I love the texture, formula, finish, and color payoff of this product but IF I have to deal with broken bullet and melting issues, I might want to think twice to get it in another shade. How sad I am now, because I totally adore this Rouge Unlimited Shine Supreme range and am willing so much to buy more and more shades!!

isn't it a pretty color?

Score

Last Words?
Mon Shu Red Pure from the Rouge Unlimited Shine Supreme range is a super juicy, luscious but cute color that quickly adds brightness and youth vibe to your whole look. The glossy finish gives good dimension to your lips while the opaqueness of the color enhances your lips’ feature. Nice performance and shades offered of this range, but I will think twice and reconsider to repurchase if the great formula leads to a quick meltdown of this soft, smoothly gliding lipstick.

was going out with BF to the supermarket, groceries issues. Lime green + juicy coral red, wdyt? :D

So, with the meltdown slash broken bullet issues. Have you ever experienced this with any shades from the Rouge Unlimited Shine Supreme range from Shu Uemura? Drop your comments and share your thoughts below, I’d love to hear and discuss with you. What a miss, since Mon Shu Red Pure is a SUPER GREAT JUICY COLOR. Agree not? ;)

PS: I dyed my hair black. As maybe some of you never really paid attention to my hair, I never had black hair before—my actual hair color was dark brown it was often mistaken as dyed hair. What do you think of my jet black hair now? Yay or nay? Does it suit me or should I dye it back to dark brown/ash brown?

Back to Blog & NEW CONCEPTS FOR THE BLOG!

It’s been a long time since I posted a thing here…yep, I realized that. Glad that I could be back to the blogging world again after missing in action for about 4 months and more, yay! I was busy with ‘stuffs’, you know, stuffs like graduating from high school (hello, uni life), having holiday in Bali and Makassar—which I won’t babble or write about any experiences there, nope, next time maybe because you know…I was busy with ‘stuffs’, there—aaaand preparing new concept for this blog. How cool is that? XD

Since I will talk nothing about ‘stuffs’ but the last one I mentioned about preparing new concept for this blog, so let’s just get straight into it:

Changed Blog’s URL Along with the Title! (well…do you even realize that? LOL)
Long story short, my default official email carolinelle@live.com was HACKED, and I couldn’t have any access to it anymore. Being devastated and so stressed trying so hard to get it back by answering questions from Microsoft’s “automatic recovery system for blocked email to get your account back”, I chose just to forget it and made one new email account using Google messaging platform, Gmail. And since the name Carolinelle has been having quite a hard time when is entered in the username column of signing up attempts (almost) in every site I try, so I chose to change it to a (much) more complicated-and-hard-to-spell-name, Caroleinne.

And about the URL and blog’s title…don’t you ask me why I bother to change it? Well as I said, I want to bring a whole new concept for this blog, where I will not talk about beauty-related things only here in my blog but also daily ramblings and slice of life posts. I love to eat too, so why not sharing reviews or spilling thoughts about restaurants too here? Sharing is caring, right! Plus I realize that my blog’s URL is kinda….err, hard to spell. Not to admit that ‘Caroleinne’ is easier to spell but yeah…people in IG recognized me by that username pretty well already; therefore no ‘Caroleinne.blogspot.com’ because it’s too easy to misspell. Be it eatsleepkiss.blogspot.com!

New Sections for the Posts
There will not be post under the big categories like ‘Review’ or ‘FOTD’s only, but also posts under smaller and more specific categories like:
-          Friday Kiss: once in two weeks post about the lipstick I wear on Friday for a date (yeah I have a BF now, guess what LOLOLOLOLOLOL NO MORE AVAILABLE IN DA MARKET FINALLY) and maybe a little review about it. Not all lipsticks are new arrivals nor from the latest collection, but I promise it will suit what’s in this season.
-          Sunday Sniff: monthly post about fragrance, be it perfumes, colognes, or body mists. This is totally new and I am new to the scent and fragrance world, as I recently discovered a new passion towards “something smells nice”.
-          Sleeping Beauty: those secret potions for your beauty are sleeping peacefully in your kitchen and fridge racks. Wake them up now, and let’s make something so-called-DIY homemade beauty remedies with me!
-          Tips or Treat: another once in two weeks post about easy but forgotten beauty tips and stuffs. Yay!

I think that’s all for now. Well Caroline why are you back only just to bring those news and not reviews? Chill, fellas! I will be back again in no time, with tons of reviews/quick reviews/posts because now I’m free and got plenty time to write. Yay. Be right back soon, promise!

Aaaaand a little sneak peek of what I’m preparing now for this blog won’t hurt, but it may cause curiosity:

So stay tune for the reviews, okay!
And a bonus angry-slash-evil pose selfie to close this announcement post:

meh, I know.

Hope you find it cute as how I do. Ciao!
