2013 Favorites: Songs & Music Albums (CONTENT ALERT: 70% EDM)

Merry Christmas 2013, everyone!
Have a blessed, loved, and wonderful Christmas of the year. Caroline and her family are wishing all the merriest, prettiest Christmas for all of you!

It’s only a week to go before New Year! Should it be a yay or nay, I still don’t know – well at least for me myself. So many things happened this year, in 2013, and time sure flies (too) fast that some events were not embraced to the fullest, even never the least. I wish I could blog more, for example. And had bought a lot more back there in Hong Kong. The least was just a joke – okay not really, it was for real.
Since I posted a lot of new year-related-things last year like resolutions and such thingy, I want to do more for this amazing 2013! I will post – starting from this one – my 2013 favorites, from books to makeup and skincare products, with some short reviews/descriptions about them. Curious much? Let’s get started, shall we?

As the title mentions it all, this post is going to be about my favorite songs/albums/singles of the year. Pre-warning here, this post is going to be like err 70% about EDM (Electro Dance Music) so if you’re not so into that genre, let’s just say I love EDM and they’re my favorite songs & artists in 2013, period, and click out of this page XD kidding! It’s a Christmas eve, share some love with EDM too – it’s okay, promise.

1. TRUE – Avicii // Album
With 12 tracks inside, this album is TRUE-ly the winner of my heart. Avicii got ranked #3 in DJ Mag this 2013, much undoubted for us. My favorite track from this album is X You, yet this song was what brought me to love EDM songs once again. It’s a collaboration of Avicii with the rest of the world, people sending their works of mixing, bass, etc and then some contributors were picked and Avicii put them all into one beautiful mix. Of course, the world hits “You Make Me” and “Wake Me Up” are also included in this album, making the selling high and the store is always being out of stock of it (at least in my town!). Dear Boy is also awesome too!

2. Never Say Goodbye – Hardwell & Dyro ft. Bright Lights // Single
Let’s take a break from here, a little chit-chat would just do. Don’t you realize that EDM songs do have “meaningful” lyric lately? It’s not like pop or R&B songs – ugh the words picked and used are just getting ruder and contain a lot of profanities, that being said – EDM have won better place in their listeners’ playlist and heart, lately. Like this song from the #1 DJ in 2013, Hardwell, the lyric this song has is obviously (too) short because we have a lot of mixing sounds here and there. Being short it is, but the lyric sure has good point there. You should google the lyric once finished downloading the song, it’s  a really great song to hear – even though Hardwell are not for everyone, his songs & mixings are not like Avicii’s or Guetta’s, at least that’s what my friends said – especially for those who love great and lively beat breaks.

3. 17 – Avril Lavigne // Album Track
Finally not an EDM song, eh? This song is still an upbeat one, from my childhood idol Avril Lavigne. Talking about her life back there when she was just a seventeen years old teen, this song really reminds me to enjoy and embrace my life to the fullest while I am (still) seventeen.

4. Animals – Martin Garrix // Single
Like X You, this is not literally a song, it’s an instrumental mix. Martin Garrix has the thing there, he’s 17 (OMG at my age and already is in the big 40 DJ all over the world!) young, fresh, cute, and very talented. This mix is beautifully produced by him alone, just two days before my birthday. Lovable track to hear indeed, the beat break is very detail – a rhythmic sound like water drops – and not heavy. This is his very first international hit and he already has his very own style there, it’s too obvious! A great DJ he will be.

5. Counting Stars – One Republic // Single
It’s been a long time since the last time I really had a heart for One Republic’s song (Apologize), but Counting Stars quickly claimed my heart the first time I listened to it. The rest of the world seemed to agree with me, this single peaked at #3 in Billboard Hot 100, becoming their first top five hit since highest charting debut single Apologize.

6. Wake Me Up – Avicii // Single, Album Track
This is the song that inspires me lately. Especially its music video, thanks, now I want that Avicii logo tattoo on my body. So Avicii-ized. The MV brings the song lyric clearer to me: it’s about two girls who seemed to be sisters, being discriminated and looked over in a weird way by the people in their old school town. The two females didn’t know why people are acting like that to them, but they had Avicii logo tattoed on their part of body and did dress fancier than others in the town. Soon the elder girl went out the countryside and rode a horse to a bigger city, and she found a group of people with the same tattoo on them before they finally head out to a rave party. She enjoys the event, then comes back home to bring her younger sister along and they move to the new city, the end. The MV got so a lot critiques more than appreciations – some interpret that the two females are cool, beautiful, and attractive therefore they can rave, not like the rest of the people in the countryside which is old-fashioned and just “average looking”.

To me it’s about a younger generation with rave, party life and fancy dresses which is despised (obviously…) by the older generation for listening to “broken-radio-sounded-like” songs and behaving differently – rave, always being on the headphones etc – as compared to them, and nothing is wrong with that! Generation switches one to another over time, none of both is wrong because technology evolves by time and it’s us who work on it by the way…so if the switch is a fault, it must be ours – both the older and younger generation. A great song, nice guitar composition mixed with Avicii’s mixing style.

7. Under Control – Calvin Harris, Alesso ft. Hurts // Single
I love the breaks, that’s all – and Hurts’ voice is sexy, so like Example’s XD Plus I love Alesso’s touch in the mixing. Even though I’m not so into Calvin Harris for reasons, like 1.) he’s dating Rita Ora whom I hate, 2.) he’s currently the richest DJ after the debut with Rihanna in We Found Love, 3.) his breaks are too heavy for me. Personal matters…

8. Here’s To Never Growin’ Up – Avril Lavigne // Single, Album Track
This song reminds me of my high school year of which will end soon. After this we will enter uni, and there’s a big possibility of us not going to the same uni! So sad, but it’s the truth btw. Every time my girls and I went to karaoke, this song is always on the playlist. Aww, goodbye is inevitable.

9. Wrecking Balls – Miley Cyrus // Single
Oh I hate Miley ever since I could remember - from the Hannah Montana era I think. Apart of the singer itself, her songs are always lovely to hear. Like this controversial song about her love life, I love the melody and the song itself but NEVER the singer and the MV – just eww. I am honestly kinda sympathetic of what she’s been through with Liam and her insecurities, but since I never really liked her I choose not to give a damn there except for this song. Ha, broken heart always brings money for entertainers indeed! You hear this, Taylor?

10. Alive (Hardwell Final Remix) – Krewella // Single
I love Krewella, BUT I cannot love Hardwell’s (final) touch more in this song more than the original version. That is that, being said already. The remixed version has more lively feeling to the song itself. This is the very first Hardwell song/remix that I listen to, and I quickly find it perfect. That man is sexy man, quoting my friend Nayzu. I see your point there~~!

So those are all my favorite songs of the year! Woo! If you’re an EDM lover like me, these songs are definitely familiar for you. If you have more great EDM songs – or any other songs, country, rock, anything BUT KPOP! – please share your favorite songs below. I would like to apologize if my taste does not fit yours…well I’m kinda into party mood lately because busy days have finally taken their toll on me: stress and pimples, etc. Uh.

Thank you for reading this post, stay tuned for more favorites of the year, XOXO <3

Review: LUSH Mask of Magnaminty

Acne is…irresistible. Well, at least for my skin! No matter how hard I fight it, it will eventually come back bringing a lot of friends. Maybe I have mentioned this before that my skin is actually getting immune of anti-acne properties in skincare – it actually fights back by producing more sebum which causes more acne, obvious as it is – therefore I cannot really use anti-acne products or treatments. Getting back to basic skincare is not very fun, you can’t get your whole acne gone in no time. But when I was on my holiday in Macao back there in July, I found a LUSH store there inside the Venetian shopping centre, and grabbed this raved-so-much product: Mask of Magnaminty, and I chose to give it a try!

And Its Obviously LUSH!
LUSH packaging is made of a thin plastic, but being thin doesn’t make the cap feels a bit loose instead of shutting very tight. To be honest the packaging is not very appealing to see it at the first place, but the labels and its originality, uniqueness, has its own fans (count me in, ofc!)

As for LUSH signature too, they will have this mini label having the name of the maker of this product, when was it made, and the expiration date. Don’t worry – the expiration date is like 3 months ago, I know – because today I’m not going to review an expired product because I’ve actually ended up this one thus I’m making an in-depth review about it.

Refreshing Scent from Herbal Essential Oil
When first opened the cap, you will quickly notice a fresh smell of peppermint and yes it has peppermint oil in it which cause tingling sensation during the wear session giving you the cold and fresh sensation all over your face, neck, and even back..

The cream is green in color, with noticeable rough, crushed adzuki beans in it. Texture is thick and creamy, it spreads pretty easy with just a little tug on your face. It will soon dry up and crack—if you smile or laugh a lot during the wearing time—before I finally rub it off with warm water after 10-15 minutes (longer than advised, I know!) and have no problem with the exfoliating properties. The adzuki beans exfoliates through your skin deep, but not harsh at all. It doesn’t cause my skin irritation at all instead of making it glows, feels so smooth and healthy just in seconds.

My Skin is Happy, So Am I
It looks similar to Queen Helene Mint Julep with less harsh exfoliator property, but I prefer this one as Mask of Magnaminty doesn't cause me breakout or tight feeling after wearing. I wear this mask 1-2 times in a week. My acne scars fade & lighten a bit, my small bumps and rough, dead skin are all banished away. Even though I apply the mask on irritated skin or acne also, Mask of Magnaminty doesn’t really cause harm to it instead of helping by calming it down. Wearing serum or moisturizer after this mask would really help for your skin to develop better too~

Mask of Magniminty comes in two sizes, this one I have is 125 g for MOP$90 or around $11. It’s quite a generous amount of mask, I finish this 125 g jar in 2,5 months. Indeed I’m happy with the result, and surely will repurchase as no scrub/exfoliator that has come so far not to irritate or cause harm to my skin unless this one.

Last Words?
Mask of Magnaminty is definitely amazing. My skin is acne prone but also very sensitive to harsh product, but this one causes me a lot of goodness instead. The adzuki bean is not very harsh actually, and this mask gives tingling and cool effect which is relaxing, not the burning sensation! Thumbs up! One thing to notice if you’re allergic toward essential oils, you may want to consider more before buying because it has peppermint oil.

What do you think of this mask? Have you ever tried it? Will love to hear from you guys, don’t forget to subscribe to this blog for upcoming updates! XOXO

EOTD: Taupe Soft Smokey Eye

Hi Angels! This is my very first EOTD—stands for Eyes Of The Day—post and the title cannot describe this look better.

First I want to disclaim here that I’m not a trained MUA so my work is maybe not as good, neat, and beautiful as other bloggers & MUAs’. Please bear with the pictures now LOL because I promise you I will try to get better and better again in doing eye makeup, of course by practicing a lot XD

Today’s EOTD was wearing all theBalm eye shadow, combining those from the two famous theBalm palette, Balm Jovi and Nude Tude! This is a soft taupe makeup look, and if you’re asking me where the taupe color is…well actually silvery taupe color there is. It’s a gorgeous shade named Selfish from Nude Tude palette, I’d found a hard time working on that shade but I just worked it out in this look! *happy*

Into the pictures now…

So since the weather outside is so gloomy and we’re officially entering rainy season here in Indonesia, I think I should do a darker theme for my look. This is wearable as well for those who have fall season by now too, because I used a gorgeous glittery army green color named Led Zeppelin there, to add a bit warmth. It’s wearable for day or night look, as it’s not too overpowering or dramatically smokey. You can skip the fake lashes ofc ;)

Products Used
theBalm Balm Jovi Palette (Led Zeppelin, Adagio, Metal-ica)
theBalm Nude Tude Palette (Selfish, Sultry, Sleek, Sophisticated)
Jordana Brow Powder Duo 03 Dark

If you find this EOTD is good or whatsoever else, you can always favor me a tutorial for this! I will be happily doing it for you……yet I just realized I still have some tutorials to do, by your favors. Geez I hope I can finish most of them in this month kay!

Comments are appreciated as always, whether they’re being feedbacks or critiques, please do stop by and say Hi to me down below. Will love to hear from you guys!!

Haul: Dr.December

Hello! I’m back with a quick post of my late November-early December haul with all of you, please do comment below of the items that interested you the most for me to review first. I’m planning to post more on this month since this month may be the last month I’m less busy than the upcoming ones, so yeah say your wish now before I’m pulled back to the black hole XD

As usual this post is not and never about bragging, but I do find out some people (including me!) feel happy to see other’s purchase. I don’t know, maybe I just sound like a weirdo but…when it comes to your passion I believe nothing can be “too much” or “too many” in this case! Admit it that you love and would love to know what’s hot lately! Into the pictures, then!

My Instagram bio seems to have said it all, that I am literally a lipstick eater thus I own this many. Yep, all the lip products above were purchased in a month only…even though I end up not liking some. But I never really thought of buying that many actually, it just happened like, “Well…we got, erm *counting* eleven lip products this month. Amazing, dear my lovely babies. Lovable them all.” ………………...
That kind of moment. And feeling. Idk. Stop wandering around Maybelline's counter, I said to myself.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in 160 Fifth Ave Fuchsia

The Saem Saemmul Aqua Tint #01 Red
Essence Stay Matt Lip Cream 01 Velvet Rose
Essence Stay Matt Lip Cream 02 Smooth Berry
Essence Stay Matt Lip Cream 04 Silky Red

The Saem’s tint was from my beloved friend, Tata, she was kind for giving this to me when I visited Jakarta (and met up with her even for just some couple minutes) but also was EVIL for not telling me she was going to give me mini gift! I brought nothing for her, bad me! L She said the tint was her favorite so she wanted to share the love—and now I love it too. Yay~~

Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick 107
Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick 109
NYX Matte Lipstick in Merlot
MAC Riri Hearts Mac Fall LE – Riri Woo
Illamasqua Lipstick in Sangers

These two lipsticks on the bottom row are definitely my favorite! I worn Sangers in a photo shoot for yearbook, and I felt really AWESOME with it on. Yeah.

Shu Uemura the Lightbulb Foundation + Sponge (LE)
Maybelline Fit! Me Stick Foundation in 115 Ivory
Maybelline Fit! Me Liquid Concealer in 10 Light

Shu Uemura the Lightbulb was not a planned purchase, tbh. My friend had already told me about this foundation back there in October but I wasn’t interested like, at all. Ate my own words yet it attacked me back, I fell in love with it after trying it out. The best dewy foundation for my super annoying skin. Will review later, very soon okay!

Jordana Stick Blush in 03 Blushed
Jordana Stick Blush in 07 Candy Apple
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk
Physician Formula ConcealRX Concealer in Natural Light
Milani Baked Blush in Berry Amore

And that’s all for my haul! Do you have an eye—or maybe both—on any products above? Which of them that attracted you the most? Tell me in the comment section below because I’m going to bed now, I feel so sick now! *sneeze*

Night, have a nice dreams everyone! X

Review: Covergirl Lip Perfection in 400 Temptress

Covergirl is a best known drugstore brand from US for their fabulous LashBlast mascara series—which I sadly don’t have the chance to get them yet—but today I’m going to bring you another lovely gem of them: their Lip Perfection Lipstick!

I have four of them, and am admittedly going to review them one by one in separate post for a detailed review for each! Today I’m going to review my first: Temptress. Now let’s jump into the description of this lipstick, which was taken from its site:

Bright, gorgeous color that can transform your day and your lips. Enriched with a silk moisturizing complex, our formula helps sustain moisture levels and helps create soft, smooth, beautiful lips in just 7 days.

Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Isopropyl Isostearate, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Acetylated Lanolin, Ozokerite, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax / Cire De Candelilla, Paraffin, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax / Cire De Carnauba, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetyl Lactate, Fragrance / Parfum, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Silk Powder / Poudre De Soie, Maltodextrin, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Propylparaben, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Retinyl Palmitate, Mica. May Contain/Peut Contenir: Orange 5, Iron Oxides, Lauroyl Lysine, Titanium Dioxide, Red 27, Blue 1 Lake, Red 6 Lake, Red 7 Lake, Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake, Carmine

Pretty Packaging!
The bullet is housed in a rectangular tube, with silvery-lilac color all over its body. The whole body of this lipstick was made of a sturdy, semi-matte yet a little bit reflective plastic material and cap shuts perfectly it has the “click” sound which we all love too (that feeling, remember?) At the bottom of the tube they have some kind of dummy—like NYX Round Lipsticks have—showing pretty accurate color of what this lipstick has and its various finishes.

Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick has total 48 shades in the range, varying from crème to frost, each has 3.5 g (.12 oz) of lipstick for $  and is available at Ulta, Drugstore, Target.

Pretty Vibrant Pink!
400 Temptress is a bright, light pink. It’s not a muted pink color for me, it’s has a gorgeous brightness to me it’s almost neon—pink that works on cool people, from the palest to the darkest. Having such a beautiful soft formula (but not the one that seems to melt too soon while stored in a hot place), Temptress glides on perfectly smooth on lips without tugging even Temptress is kind of lacking the creaminess of usual Lip Perfection Lipstick. The color payoff of Lip Perfection range is awesome, but Temptress for me is a bit sheerer than the others. It has a crème finish. Here’s an arm swatch of Temptress:

Left: 1 swipe | Right: 3 swipes

It stays for a decent time on my lips for around 3 hours before it starts to feel a bit drying on lips. I don’t know what’s wrong with this shade, but being that said Temptress is not very great compared to its siblings even though it’s a beautiful shade to have, and is wearable for day to night.

Last Words?
Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks are so far my current favorite for drugstore choice of crème finish because they are mostly consistent in formula for their lipstick, but Temptress is a miss for me. It’s a nice shade and wearable, but the formula is unfortunately drier and not as moisturizing as the rest in the collection.

Do you have any of Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick? What shade(s) is/are your favorite? Share below, and see you soon! XOXO <3

Review: Yoki Eye Strawberry 20.8 mm in Red

I love my natural eyes, but I love wearing circle lenses too! Especially when I want to wear heavy eye makeup, I prefer to put on lenses to balance out the gorgeousness of my eye LOL but vice versa, circle lenses will still compliment your natural and simple eye makeup too. Common colors like blue, green, grey, brown…ah, they are really mainstream! But have you ever imagined red lenses for everyday wear? Do you think red is a little bit too much to work around with natural eye makeup? Ha, I can prove you wrong!

Yoki Eye Strawberry is the lens I’m going to review today! The brand name is not very familiar to me, but the ads were very cute so I agree when Dreamie Chuppa, my all-time favorite online shop of circle lenses, offered it to me. Now let’s see the product description, shall we:

Product Info
Brand: Yoki Eye
Type: Strawberry
Origin: Japan
Diameter: 20.8 mm (sure huge…O.o)
Color: Red
Water Content: 52%
Base Curve: 8.6
Duration: 6 months (disposable)
Availability in Prescription: Yes (from 0-800)

Coming in blisters packaging seems to be a unique signature (or standard? Will update about this later) of Japan lenses (like the one I reviewed here) and I love it as well! Sometimes vial packaging can get really rough and…hurting as well, like what just happened to my nail today when I tried to open my new pair of Geo lenses \(>< !!)/

The duration of these lenses are also shorter than regular Korean lenses—only a half of the Koreans’! I heard from an ophthalmologist that the shorter the duration of your contact lenses, the better & healthier your eyes will be. Storing and soaking them inside solution cannot kill all the bacteria that “get” and “stick” onto your lens’ surface, that’s why sometimes you feel itch or pain while putting on a quite worn lens. Therefore, basically…lenses with shorter duration are far better. Okay. One more point added for this lens! XD

As usual I got this in my prescription, which currently is -350 for both of my eyes and hoping for it not to add in any way.

P.S: I love my floral background and so do you and I hope it didn’t disturb you to see the original pattern and color of this lens clearly!

Color: ♥♥♥♥♥
Not true to the described color at all. It’s a PINK, definitely is. Even to look it inside the case, I would tell it’s a pink—obviously not red! The color is not very vibrant while worn on eyes too. People can tell you’re wearing red pink lenses, they won’t gasp like “meh…it’s pink?” but more like “wow, nice color you have there!”, thanks to the dark red-almost-black color that dominates the lens more than the pink does, only being like gradation and put behind the strong pattern lining (look at the both inside in lenses pic below!) The nice thing that puts one more heart for the color scoring is the yellow thin lines along the center area. The yellow would make a nice detail but not too overpowering there, yet it helps a little to blend the color of lens with my natural dark brown eyes.

L: Inside in | R: Inside out
Design: ♥♥♥♥♥
The overall design is actually very pretty; I believe it implies some kind of flower on the pattern. Despite the pretty design, I merely dislike the boldness of the pattern lining itself. It’s too dark, making this lens looks more forgiving while worn, that’s good, but from faraway you can barely see the pattern and the color—all just seem…what, blurred? It’s useless to have pretty floral design but you can’t really see it once it’s worn—unless people are within 45 cm near to your face.

pretty floral design!

Enlargement: ♥♥♥♥♥
Definitely the biggest lens I have so far! I love how it enlarges my eyes but not in a creepy way, it’s more wearable with makeup on though. The enlargement effect is nothing like 20.8 mm, won’t you be scary as hell if you have such a large iris, but I believe it’s around 17-18 mm. Compared to the 19 mm Komilook, Yoki Eye seems to be a little biiiit smaller. The outer limbal ring is thin; the reason why these lenses are big is because of their literally-big size.

no lens

with lens

L: with lens | R: without lens
both eyes with lens
Comfort: ♥♥♥♥♥
It’s surprisingly, very comfortable on my eyes. It doesn't hurt, no itch at all, and worn well on my eyes without eye drop up to 8-9 hours. Lovely how big lenses are comfortable, because I found my eyes are quite not fit lately for quickly & easily getting tired of wearing lens especially those with big diameter. Yoki Eye Strawberry is far, far more comfortable than Komilook Leopard Gray, in comparison of big circle lens' comfort.

Selca time! You do the judgement yourself, it's surely a beautiful pair of circle lenses but alas, the design is not very vivid from afar :(

please DO ignore the weird smile...okay, now you realize it

Yoki Eye Strawberry retails for IDR 140,000 or around $15, you can get it from Dreamie Chuppa, here’s their contact person:

Facebook: Dreamie Chuppa
Twitter: @depth_dreamie
Instagram: @depth_dreamie

Whatsapp/SMS: +628995693988

Last Words?
Yoki Eye Strawberry is a pretty, decent big circle lens that is wearable for everyday use. Light makeup will do pretty well along, so no worries. Those with very small eyes might find it a little bit too big, but with dramatic lashes I think nothing could come as impossible anymore! Overall it’s great and very comfortable, but the color I got is just…not true to what it’s marketed to be.

bonus pic: a decent, happy smile! :D

So! Have you tried this lens? Would you give it a try? Lemme know in the comment section below, will be back again posting something in this blog tomorrow…or maybe, 2 days from now. Still busy even though the exam is already over now. Do share some love, XOXO <3
